Plumgood Food: RIP

Crap.

Just got the email about Plumgood Food going out of business December 5th.  Another victim of the faltering economy.

It’s an absolute shame.  Their service was first-rate, their produce very good, and I actually saved money shopping with them (just getting what’s “on the list” saves a LOT of money, even if the per-unit cost is higher).  They also introduced our family to many brands we would have never tried otherwise.

It’s going to be very hard to get used to going somewhere to get groceries again.

If you ever had a chance to order food from them, you know that Nashville is losing a jewel.  Nothing gold can stay, I guess.

Stumbled upon your comments Googling for plumgood. Didn’t read my email Friday so learned the bad, bad news via friends and TV yesterday. Yes, plumgood has been a jewel. Have been a steady customer for the past 18 months and I will have quite an adjustment now. (The driving, the parking, the can’t-find-what-aisle-it’s-on, the check-out liiiiiine, the loading the car, the unloading, the dragging of bags to the kitchen, the putting away, the crap-I-forgot-to-get-yogurt. Sigh. Grocery stores. Anathema.) I’ll miss more than the products/delivery/convenience. The people are first-rate. This hurts my heart. I want it very much not to be true.

Nothing like Plum Good but Brooke and I have started doing this, it’s a heck of a deal $$$$ wise, the food is good and it helps a great ministry. Check out the menu, we get 1 regular box and usually 1 of the meat boxes. It won’t save you from going to the store but it does save money and helps in planning meals because you know ahead of time what you will have on hand.
