So Lintilla calls me. The results of the analysis after her D&C are in.
Boys, you are never prepared for when your wife says the words “I have cancer”. I’m in a haze right now.
Adnosarcoma. Of course, it’s rare.
At least she’s going to get her wish and get a full hysterectomy. And there are some lymph nodes that have to come out. From what she tells me, this should fix everything.
I’d appreciate any prayers for her.
Update from Lintilla:
Dearest Friends,
Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers. I must admit I knew something was up when my OB/GYN of over 20 yrs calls and says ‘do you have a minute?’ I told her then and there that it must not be good because she has NEVER called me personally in all these years!
Yes, this thing is call adenosarcoma– no relation whatsoever to newscoma.. haha–just kidding. It is rare and apparently not genetic. I told the doc that she knew that I was “special”, so of course I would get the haute couture kind of cancer.
I have been scheduled to consult with an specialist in this kind of stuff on the 27th. I have heard many nice things about him– he is a good surgeon, very calming, good bedside manner. That makes me feel reassured. When my doc told him about the test results, he wasted no time in getting me set up– I have the surgery on Dec. 3.
This, of course, is NOT the Christmas gift I was hoping for, however, a tummy tuck while I’m out would be a nice addition to my lifestyle! It will help also with the kids, because they can stay at home during the holidays instead of going to aftercare at school. (they hate the director)
We told the kids tonight. Want to know what the kids think of me? Will is counting on an increase in his allowance because he will have to do more around the house and Katie stated that she had passed gas twice while I was talking. So much for drama in our house.
Anyway, I really appreciate you all and keep Slarti in your thoughts more because he seems to be taking this harder than me. Must be that mystery surrounding women and their bodies that has him in a tizzy. I will let Sarti keep you updated on things in his indomitable way– which means he’s better with words than I am..
Just do not let him tell you what I say under versed, anesthesia or morphine. I can hurt people when I’m strong! Love y’all– Lintilla

I’m sorry to hear it. Here’s hoping the surgeries will get it all out and she’ll be fully healthy again in no time.

Yes.
May the Lord continue to bless and keep y’all real good. May His countenance shine upon y’all so hard that you need extra sunscreen.
Hope the Mrs. gets the band-aid version and the subsequent recovery time is minimal and involves extensive snuggling and smooching from the whole family. In fact, that’s my prescription for the next 50 years or so. Heh.
November 19, 2007 at 12:23 pm
Prayers coming from vaguely the same direction as ‘Coma’s. Keep us posted.

You’ve got them.
And… take your sick time at work. Send me a message if you have any questions about that. Sick time, not vacation.

Your are in our thoughts and prayers. That is the phone call no one wants.
November 19, 2007 at 1:19 pm
She’s a tough old broad, she’s gonna come thru just fine.
You know you all are in our prayers, you and the missus have been brother and sister to me for longer than either one of us wants to think about so you know if you need us were just down the road. SERIOUSLY anything you need – call me.
Love you guys

November 19, 2007 at 2:13 pm
Will do. It’s never something you want to hear. The hard part for me was trying to be the strong one when my wife had cancer. All things considered that wasn’t hard though. I didn’t have the surgery or recovery or constant tests.
November 19, 2007 at 2:34 pm
you’ve got my positive energy…

Guys –
At our ages, The Much Younger Trophy Wife and I are looking at health kinds of things so I understand the situation.
However, I cannot imagine what you all must be going through.
If there is anything you need beyond our prayers, let us know. We got your back!

Prayers from Indiana and Texas are on their way.
The power of prayer is an incredible thing. And it looks like you’ve got an arsenal aimed at this…
God bless your whole family through this time.
Btw, I’ll be in Nashville for the Thanksgiving holiday, if you’d like to get together and catch up… just drop me a line.

Dear Father in Heaven-
Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to know Slarti and Lintilla. You are so good to provide us with special people in our lives.
While we are all stunned by Lintilla’s diagnosis, we and they know that You were not surprised at all. We are believing You to provide everything Slarti and Lintilla need during the coming days, weeks and months. You will not leave them nor forsake them during this time and we ask that you surround them with your perfect peace that passes all understanding. We ask that you give all of the medical personnel who will be working with her wisdom and knowledge and that they will make the right decisions regarding her care.
We also ask a special blessing for the children. To hear the news about your parents as young kids is so scary. We pray that this experience will draw them closer together as a family than they could have ever been and that they will also draw closer to You.
Guide us, their friends, to know how to best help out and be there for them.
In Jesus’ name…Amen!

Amen, Sista.
